playing with photos for ChristineB's choices

Christine, I took the liberty of playing with your pictures a bit.
To my eye, 3 of the styles you're looking at are embodied in the basic pattern draft, with minor changes, of the basic patterns V7979 and V7978.
That Burberry one, all the patterns I have or can come up with that have raglan sleeves are old OOP.

Christine B choices

Just a quick question:
Is anyone looking at Marfy? Knip Mode?

Marji - you SO rock! Looks like Vogue 7978 will be my jumping off point, as those two coats are the leading contenders. Thanks for posting this.

Christine, check some of the pattern re-sellers to see if they have it avail, but if not, you'll have to order it from Vogue, as it's recently been taken out of production. Makes me nuts since it's obviously such a great basic design.

Wish me luck - I've checked eBay, and they have it - but only in the size groups *smaller* and *larger* than the size 14 I need. Sigh...

Now that I look at it again, that Kishimoto looks like the 7979 pattern's collar, only w/ rounded edges. Hmmmmmm.....

Been looking at patterns, still undecided. I'd love to find a nicely semi-fitted double breasted with collar and a raglan sleeve, but so far haven't. My 2nd choice after the seemingly nonexistent raglan idea is a traditional double breasted notched collar affair, and most of the ones below fit that description. So the ones that appeal to me are: Vogue 7979C, V2288 (the John Anthony); I already made the V 2884 jacket, so not that one; V 2204 is great, but the collar seems gigantic, and anyway I don't think I have enough fabric; and then there is McCall's 5525E and Simplicity Threads 3562A. I have 3.4 yds (3.1 m), so my choice will have to fit within that. At any rate, since I'm out of town, I have till next week to decide. And I have a couple of patterns at home - one of them might do the trick.

The coat variations look great. I think that I may keep looking for a jacket pattern before I make up my mind.
