Cidell's project -- BWOF trench circa 2006

Wow. This is going to be so much fun! I thought I would post my project in the hopes it inspires someone else and we can compare notes along the way. I'm making up this trench from the September 2006 BWOF in the red B*berry fabric. I'm planning on making a wool button out lining so I can get a little more wear from it. That and bound buttonholes are about as fancy as I plan on getting.

Soooo, anyone else considering this pattern?

Cidell .- you've chosen a good model. I love the trench. will you say that a wool lining. a piece of advice: Make sure the well-sleeve this pattern, because it is very close (I did this model for a jacket and had to expand its sleeve). OK. greetings and happy sewing. Paco

Cidell,do you have directions for buttonout lining. Would you share with me? How much fabric does the 9/2006 trench take? It's gorgeous!!

Well Cidell, I think I got a line on that pattern. So we can sew-along, I hope - 'cept I'll be using a classic tan for this one. I'll save my red B-b-b-b-ry for a "Little Red Riding Hood" wannabe jacket, with a much simpler pattern.

Gosh. I should check this more often.

@ Silver Threads, it takes 5 yards of fabric. I'm copying from photos of a Buberry button out lining. Essentially, it looks like the facing is extended a few inches and the wool lining is bound. Then, buttonholes on the facing and buttons on the lining. I'm honestly winging it!

@ digs, I may have to change my pattern! I really want it to be long like this, but I have destroyed my extra two yards of fabric to complete this :( I wonder if a single layer cut will save me a yard?
